NAIDOC week @ headspace Caboolture

NAIDOC week is celebrated across Australia during the first week of July every year for all Australians to celebrate our First Nation people & culture which is the oldest living culture in the world (amazing!). Each year a theme for NAIDOC week is announced with the 2022 theme being - Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!. This theme is a call out to us all to do just that - Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People by supporting institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative reforms & celebrating the many who have driven & led change in our communities. To kick off NAIDOC week 2022 headspace Caboolture & our YRG members set up a stall at the Bribie Island NAIDOC event where we were able to network with ATSI orgs. but most importantly engage with young people, family and friends around the importance around mental health. We heavily plugged one of our more recent 'Take a Step' campaign which was created by headspace National's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group. On the 6th of July 2022, we held a 3x3 basketball knockout at the local Centenary Lakes Basketball Court for the young people of Caboolture & Surrounding suburbs with 8 teams competing, family and friends supporting topped off with a good feed and DJ it was a great event celebrating NAIDOC with the 2022 theme as the main focus. headspace Caboolture would like to acknowledge the first nation people of the land we deliver services too which are the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi people and their elders past, present and emerging. Always was, Always will be.
